Pretty good shave
- 11/19/2009 10:39:28 AM
I use this and Lab Series, and prefer this one. Skin Store sent me a trial tube, I tried it, and immediately bought some. After using it for a while now, I can only describe the experience as silky. When shaving, it feels as if the blade isn't touching my skin at all. With Lab Series, I can't tell since it actually has benzocaine that makes it so my face feels nothing. I use the Lab Series if I've gone a few days or if I am shaving late in the day. The only downside I see with the Art of Shaving is that it's a bit on the pricey side, so buy it when there is a special going on at Skin Store.

Great Face Lotion
- 10/25/2009 7:39:25 PM
This is a good face lotion. It is not greasy at all, and actually absorbs into the skin. Its also the only lotion that does not give me acne. Because it is very light, you may need a bit more if your skin is dry. I think its a little pricey, but it could be worse. And although many brands purport to be "natural" Art of Shaving is one of the few companies I know that actually uses almost exclusively natural ingriedients...if you look on thier labels, there are not a bunch of chemical names and numbers. I wish they sold a bigger bottle for a discount.

Art of Shaving Facial Wash misses the mark
- 8/1/2009 12:48:38 PM
Art of Shaving has some great products, but they really missed the boat with this one. If their Peppermint scrub is a great exfoliant, even if a little intense, their facial wash feels about the same as slapping pure, undiluted peppermint oil on one's face. I love minty products -- but this candy-cane factory goes a bit too far. Their is so much peppermint in this face wash, its astringency requires larger quantities since it instantly absorbs into the skin. Then the container is pretty small too -- so you run out fast...and your face burns. Maybe they figure you can mellow your face with one of their excellent shaving creams? Whatever their angle, there are definitely better facial washes for your money here at Skinstore -- I do not recommend this product.

Super exfoliant, perhaps too aggressive
- 8/1/2009 12:41:21 PM
The Art of Shaving's Peppermint Facial Scrub is a very good exfoliant and has a delightful strongly peppermint scent and feel that make it a very invigorating face scrub for men. Not the sort of scrub than has the smooth beads, this stuff is more like that grainy soap mechanics use to clean up. Does it work? Really well and it feels great. But this stuff is serious and you really cannot use it everyday unless you want to shed your outer-layer of skin from your face permanently. For a weekly exfoliant, though, this stuff is pretty awesome.

Pricey but very elegant
- 8/1/2009 12:25:15 PM
The Art of Shaving line, like Molton Brown, offers some very elegant, high-end luxury bath products for men in the English style. Their shaving creams are very nice and have that classic consistency, weight and feel that we used to get in barber shops out of the hot shaving cream dispenser -- except this stuff is not hot of course. The Sandalwood scent has a pleasant, not overpowering, woody, musky masculine scent without smelling too much like traditional cologne- or after-shave-scented men's products. It is understated and quite elegant and will not overpower a favorite after-shave or cologne. This stuff gives a great shave, especially if applied by brush, and their smaller sizes are great for air travel as they are within FAA-required fluid size. The only draw-back to the Art of Shaving is the price -- it is a little dear, so that makes it a better choice as a gift.

My Absolute Favorite

I've tried many shaving products and this is the best! Although it's a bit pricey, a little does go a long way. I get the closest shave ever, and my skin always feels ultra soft. It also does work preventing ingrown hairs and razor bumps. The smell is amazing.

I purchased this set for my 24 year old son. He has very sensitive, acne prone skin that was ravaged by razor burn! Much to my surprise he watched the DVD and followed the directions for an irritation free shave. His skin has been transformed by these products and shaving techniques! He is even telling his friends about these products. Wonderful shaving kit! Highly recommended!

The Art Of Shaving Women's Shaving Cream Pump
Does not moisturize
- 11/26/2008 7:39:53 AM
Unfortunately I can't give this product a top rating because it does not moisturize at all. Instead it seems to strip my skin of any natural oils and leaves a chalky, sticky feel even on my hands. However, they did get some things right. The fragrance is wonderful - a very subtle and incredibly natural rose scent. It's not a foam, but there is enough foaming action for my shaving. I love the fact that it comes in a plastic pump that does not rust my shower. If the manufacturer fixed the moisturizing problem leaving the other great features, this would easily be a 5 star product worth every penny.

Love it!
- 10/26/2008 4:44:32 PM
My husband and I have tried many types of shaving creams and almost always would end up with razor burn (me) or ingrown hairs (him). This is the only stuff we've used that helps. Husband has rosacea and this doesn't irritate him at all. I love that it's unscented, too.

chaos
- 9/21/2008 4:07:27 PM
Used this for one week and it resulted in a massive ingrown hair that became infected and grew to the size of a plum. Also cause other smaller ingrowns across my neck. Horrible.
