7 Ways to Kick-start your Morning

7 Ways to Kick-start your Morning

Anna Wintour’s daily ritual is an hour long tennis match commencing at 5.45. Making the bed is Cameron Diaz’s first priority, which she follows up with a litre of water, 20 mins’ meditation, eating avocado on toast or oatmeal and then working out. Diane Von Furstenberg also meditates in the morning, before taking the time to compose one e-mail that benefits her in no way at all – such as a note of congratulations or a simple compliment.

Many of America’s most successful women have dedicated rituals in the morning, for some it’s their ‘me’ time. Start your day as you mean to go on, with one or more of these actions.

1. Cleanse

A morning cleansing ritual should be the foundation of every woman’s day. No brand understands that better than Erno Laszlo, which has now created bespoke cleansing sets and made the renowned double cleanse more accessible.

2. Rise and Shine

Good morning sunshine! Your body’s internal clock is sensitive to light and darkness so when it’s exposed to sunlight, it recognizes that it’s time to be awake. Sleep with the curtains open at least a little and draw them completely when you wake up. If it’s warm, eat breakfast outside on the porch.

3. Exercise Harder than you did Yesterday

After breakfast, Jennifer Anniston does a double workout – usually a spin-yoga class for half an hour followed by yoga for 40 minutes. That’s not the end of it. She finishes off with a session at the gym, where it’s either strength training or her just her own thing on a random exercise machine – the 47 year-old actress constantly switches it up. You can continue burning calories for upto 8 hours after exercising, so the morning is an ideal time to exercise.

Turn to Mio’s ‘Gym Kit’ to freshen up on-the-go.

4. Take an Invigorating Shower

Not a regular shower. Awaken your senses with refreshing shower gels from Archipelago Botanicals’ Morning Mint Body Wash to the This Work Energy Bank Shower Gel, which has been carefully blended to give you a mental and physical boost every morning.

5. Listen to Upbeat Music

Whether you’re getting ready to go to your office downtown, or you’re visiting a friend in the suburbs – it’s the mornings where you find the energy you need to charge you up for the day’s tasks.

Scientific research published in the Social Psychological and Personality Science Journal found that songs with heavy bass (think Queen or 50 Cent) will inspire feelings of power, produce a surge of confidence and promote more complex conceptual thoughts – just what you need in the morning.

Alternatively, try listening to a TED talk to inspire you.

6. Rehydrate

When you wake up, you’ve gone hours without water so it’s important to put it back into your body and begin the flow of water again. Try adding Perricone MD’s Super Berry with Acai Dietary Supplement Powder. The Acai Berry is one of the Brazilian woman’s beauty secrets.

7. Eat a Delicious Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It fuels the brain and will prevent snacking. Make the time, and try this healthy cinnamon french toast recipe courtesy of Myprotein.
