Summer without Cellulite

Is cellulite going to sabotage your summer? The answer is absolutely not. You can get control of those unsightly lumpy bumpy dimples by following the Institut’ DERMed 5-Step Master Cellulite Blaster protocol that addresses why women have cellulite and how to progressively change this self-esteem zapping condition.

Why do women develop cellulite? The female skin structure is made up of chambers that trap fat cells. Estrogen, the female hormone, increases fat storage in women. That is why women, unlike men, have cellulite. As we age, collagen and elastin bundles break down, weakening the dermis so fat pockets protrude upward making cellulite more noticeable.

  1. Have a positive body image. More evidence is in that what you think is what you create. A positive attitude matters. Write down your positive body image affirmations. For example: I love my body. I can have smooth, sexy legs so I feel better wearing shorts.

  2. Drink more water. Water helps nearly every part of the human body function efficiently. Considering that our bodies are almost two-thirds water, it is important to understand water's role in combating cellulite. Water increases cellular metabolism, helps to burn fat and also flushes out cellular toxic wastes.

  3. Use topical cellulite treatment products. Fortunately with today’s advancement in active ingredients and delivery systems, products can improve cellulite. It is important to use them daily for at least 4 weeks, but they can make a difference if you are determined and consistent. For topical products to improve the condition of cellulite they must address multiple pathologic changes. Look for products that have these ingredients to stimulate circulation and increase micro vascular flow: sea minerals, niacin, acetyl carnitine, guarana seed extract, and caffeine; stimulate lymphatic drainage: essential oils of geranium, rosemary, juniper berry, cinnamon leaf; stimulate skin renewal: wild yam extract, matrixyl peptides, glycolic acid, alpha lipoic acid, EFAs omega 3 & 6. The more effective products also contain liposomes to assist with active ingredient penetration to sub-dermal layers of the skin.

  4. Eat healthy. For the most part to address cellulite, a diet needs to include fresh fruits and veggies, healthy fats, and lean proteins. Avoid “dead” processed foods — especially those containing white flour, sugar, and trans fats. Your body needs certain nutrients to maintain healthy skin, which helps to prevent cellulite and improves the condition from the outside in.

  5. Move your body often. When you work out, you burn 15 times more calories then when you are sitting still. And even when you stop, your metabolic rate is increased so you continue burning calories 6-10 percent faster for up to 12 hours. Five times more blood flows through your arteries and veins as you work out and that blood is loaded with oxygen and nutrients. Exercise also boosts the lymph flow, which enhances detoxification of the body. Put all of this together and your can see why exercise works so effectively to reduce cellulite.
