Cosmetic Trends for Fall
During fall 2008, cosmetics are about the drama. Think of the glamorous icons of film and fashion as inspiration to pull together a
look of dramatic sophistication. Warm colors, chiseled cheekbones, and glowing skin are just a few of the trends that will keep you looking hot when the weather gets cold.
Foundation with a powdered matte finish has now taken a back seat to luminous, dewy skin. The trick to getting a flawless finish is to have well-hydrated skin. After cleansing and toning, start by using a water-based moisturizer like Caudalie's Radiance Day Fluid.
It has an iridescent finish that makes skin glow. An illuminating foundation such as Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation will give coverage and even out the skin tone. Look for light reflecting ingredients like mica and silicone. These ingredients help create a
more dewy look. Finally, complete the look with a highlighter. DuWop Doubleglow7 can be used not only as a primer, but as a highlighter as well. Be sure to focus on the highest point of the cheekbones and right above your upper lip under your nose, on the
cupids bow. Stay away from underneath your eyes, as it will make you look tired.
To create the look of chiseled cheekbones, define your bone structure with a contouring technique. Grab a smaller, contoured, angled blush brush and two shades of blush that suit your skin tone, one darker than the other… a bronzer will even do. A great two-in-one compact for this
is Philosophy Supernatural Mineral Blush Compact Duo in Berry Bronze. Next, find your cheekbone and apply the darker color right underneath, starting halfway between your mouth and ear while working upwards. Now that you’ve created
a shadow, use the other color only on the apple of the cheek for a little blushing action.
It's official…skinny eyebrows are out! Strong, yet defined, brows continue to gain popularity and make the perfect frame for the dramatic looks of the season. Minimize the plucking, use a conditioning treatment, and fill in holes with a brow pencil or shadow. A favorite of ours is
the Billion Dollar Brows Brow Babe Kit in Taupe. It has everything you need to channel your inner Brooke Shields.
Fall and winter colors are usually luxurious and rich tones and this year is no exception. Although, last year’s colors focused on cool hues of purples and blues, and for the fall of 2008, the color wheel has turned. Start thinking of the warm colors of autumn leaves and spice up your makeup bag with glowing golds, burning bronzes,
and ravishing reds. Try Stila Eye Shadow Pan in Oasis, a gorgeous shimmering gold; Stila Eye Shadow Duo in Salome, a beautiful duo of golden nude and warm bronze;
or Stila Eye Shadow Duo in Vieux Carre, another duo with a deep golden brown and shimmery purple.
If golden eyes are too much for you, try it on your fingernails. SpaRitual Nail Lacquer in Gold Digger and SpaRitual Nail Lacquer in Salt Of The Earth are perfect for fall.
Lipstick is back in, and in a big way! Ladies, put your lip-glosses back in the drawer for now and grab your favorite lippie! Kick it up a notch in the color department and grab a deeper, darker tone for some drama.
Both Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sheer Tint SPF 15 in Plum and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sheer Tint SPF 15 in Berry
