Concealers are small but powerful beauty tools; they can single-handedly transform your look from tired to rested, from stressed to relaxed. Concealers are great for evening out your skin tone and for masking unsightly scars, pimples, dark circles, shadows and wrinkles. A good concealer, often used in conjunction with a foundation, will work to blend your imperfection into the surrounding skin tone. Concealers come in a variety of colors; typically, different shades of skin color are used to hide blemishes, scars and wrinkles. White or lighter concealers are effective in masking dark circles under the eyes or bruises, or to brighten dull or faded skin. Shades of purple can brighten shallow complexions, while green and blue hues work to diminish red patches caused by rosacea, pimples or broken veins. Look for a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your foundation, keeping in mind that your skin tone will vary based on the season. Concealers are available in cream, powder, liquid and stick forms, and can be applied with brushes, wands or by hand. Finishing your concealer with a dusting of loose powder helps to prevent caking and settling into creases and fine lines and gives your concealer more staying power.
