Marine Algae

There are at least 25,000 known species of Marine Algae (commonly known as seaweeds). As there are so many different species, each algae is classified based on the pigment it contains; green, brown, red or blue. Like other ingredients that come from the sea, algaes are rich in trace elements, amino acids and minerals. Depending on the type of algae used it can be anti-aging, toning, moisturizing, detoxifying, revitalizing, re-mineralizing or oxygenating.

Brown (Ascophyllum, Black Kelp, Fucus, Bladderwrack, Himanthalia, Laminaria, Undaria): This form of algae contains very high levels of iodine, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It is also known to have antioxidant, detoxifying and draining properties, and to be 10 times richer in trace elements than land plants.

Red (Dilsea, Lithothamnion, Palmaria, Dulse, Porphra, Nori): This type of algae contains high levels of beta-carotene and proteins. It also helps to boost microcirculation and helps prevent tiredness.

Green (Entermorpha, Ulva Lactuca): This form of algae is an excellent source of Vitamins A, C and E as well as Magnesium. Green algae has antioxidant properties and aids in the absorption of iron.

Blue (Spirulina): This form of algae contains a high level of different B vitamins, calcium and protein. It is also known to have antioxidant, rebalancing and calming properties.
