Donell Durasil is a medical-grade, silicone occlusive sheeting, .6 mm thick, designed for topical application to hypertrophic scars and keloids. Instructions For Use:
Ideal for use:

• Over hypertrophied scars to soften and make the scars cosmetically acceptable.
• On keloid scars to improve texture, color and to reduce itching, tingling and height of lesion.

Application:

• Apply only after the skin has completely healed and must not be used on open, sore or weeping areas.
• Suitable size should be used to cover the scar/keloid, allowing an overlapping edge of 2-3 centimeters all around the scar.
• Should be applied directly to the healed scar/keloid.
• Should be applied for 2-3 hours initially, increasing by 1 hour daily until, after 1 week, an 8-hour daily treatment is achieved.
• If well tolerated should be applied for even longer periods, eventually resulting in 20+ hour usage.
• Should be held in place by the non-allergic tape included. This tape may cause irritation to very sensitive skin. If so, consult your doctor for an alternative method of application. Should this tape be impractical, tubi-grip or a tubular net bandage can be used.

Hygiene:

• Donell Durasil must be washed before each use (i.e. at least once daily) with mild soap and water, rinsed, and dried completely with a clean towel. The skin being treated must also be kept clean and dry by daily washing with soap and water, rinsing and gentle drying with a clean towel before application. Do not use talcum powder, ointment, skin moisturizer or any medication on the area to be treated.
• Donell Durasil, when not being used, should be kept in a pouch (enclosed with Kits).

Duration of Treatment:

• Treatment should be continued until the scar/keloid is pale, softer and lower in height. Best results are usually achieved within 9 months of commencement of treatment. Results will vary.
• Donell Durasil is provided NON-STERILE.

Note: Donell Durasil can sometimes cause a reaction, usually in the form of a sweat rash. If this should occur, allow the skin to rest for a few days before trying again. After washing the skin with soap and water and rinsing, allow it to air-dry and then apply Donell Durasil for a l hour period, increasing by 1 hour each day. If the problem continues, consult your physician for advice.

Durasil has a ten year shelf life.
