1). How did you get started in this industry?

I started loving the beauty industry when I was 5 yrs old, watching my mother and grandmother transform themselves through their beauty regimens. Then, while working as an actress, my skin became very sensitive, from the heavy makeup and lighting, and I couldn't find any skincare products to soothe and heal this new condition. During this distressful time, I made the decision to create Purlisse, a cosmeceutical solution for sensitive skin inspired by my grandmother's Asian beauty wisdom and advance skin science.

2). What is your star product or biggest breakthrough?

Surviving the economic downturn and emerging with re-branded Purlisse for today's beauty consumer.

3). Who/What inspires you?

The people who inspire me, are strong, intelligent, passionate, determined women. My mother's probably the best specific example. And, I'm also inspired everyday by traveling, nature, colors, texture, architecture and design.

5). Imagine the future of the beauty industry and give us your prediction of what's to come.

I know consumers are smarter, savvier and demand value and quality, and their shopping habits and expectations are changing accordingly. I predict more and more consumers will be using social networks/social commerce avenues, like Facebook, where real people make real recommendations. And I hope, this will force beauty companies to be ever more transparent and communicative. But, most significantly, I predict that consumers will increasingly pursue "attainable luxury;" and demand higher standards for the science and ingredients of their beauty products, rather than the advertising and marketing campaigns.
