Rose

Aside from the visual and scent appeal, roses actually have practical uses in skin care. When formulated into product, several different roses can be used. Some of the most common roses are the French rose, Damask rose, Dog rose and the Musk rose. Generally speaking, the roses are distilled, producing the oil and water which are used in products. Rose oil can be very costly because large quantities of petals are needed in order to attain just a small amount. It takes about 8,800 pounds of petals to yield approximately 33.8oz or approximately 30 roses to extract just 1 drop of oil. Luckily, only a small amount is needed. Since each rose has its own color, the oil and the water can vary in shade.

Rose has been around for centuries and is suitable for all skin types. However, it is most beneficial for those with dry, sensitive or aging skin. Rose has several amazing properties. It reduces redness, boosts skin circulation, enhances elasticity levels and strengthens capillary walls as well as providing an astringent effect. Rose has a gentle quality that makes it safe even in high concentrations. Along with its skin benefits, rose has also been shown to have a soothing mild sedative and anti-depressant effect.
