People who use peels love them. People who don’t use peels think they are doing just fine without them… and are living in the dark. Peels can transform the skin and provide a deeper clean than cleansers and toners alone. With three main hydroxyl acid to choose from, the effects on your skin can be custom tailored.
Lactic acid is an easy way to start peeling. It works deeper in the skin and the results on the face range from improved hydration and brightness to softness. Use B. Kamins Lactic–10 daily on a clean face for a month and you will feel like a peel pro. Glycolic acid works more topically in comparison, targeting fines lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. Post–acneic clients (or, past sun–drenched clients) will build up to glycolics (and build on glycolics) to resurface the skin on their face. A targeted applicator works well, such as B. Kamins Glycolic–10.
The third popular hydroxyl acid is salicylic acid. Used in higher concentrations to treat acne, all skin types can benefit from the antibacterial effect of topical salicylic acid at 0.5%. This is found in B. Kamins Lactic–10 and B Kamins AHA BHA Daily Peel Pads. If you want the whole show, an all–that–you–can–offer your skin product, try a combination of the three acids in B. Kamins mild AHA BHA Daily Peel Pads. Step 1 preps the skin and Step 2 delivers the acid in a controlled environment with BioMaple™. BioMaple™ is a purified maple resin that hydrates, exfoliates and protects.
Two things are particularly important to remember when ‘peeling’: 1. don’t over–peel and 2. Protect your skin from the sun. The first can be avoided by using a peel that hydrates and rebalances the skin pH while it peels, as B. Kamins peels do. It is crucial to not leave your skin vulnerable. Apply sunscreen consistently and thoroughly, with an SPF of 30, while you are using peels as part of your skincare routine. This skin is sensitive and it is important to protect it; avoid damage, hyperpigmentation and irritation.
