How To Reduce Eye Puffiness

It’s Monday morning and your alarm is going off- seeming much earlier than usual. The first thought that probably goes through your head is, “I shouldn’t have had that last Martini…” And your puffy, sodium swollen eyes, are only going to make it much more obvious to everyone at work. Great…How embarrassing…So what to do now? Here are a few tips and tricks I have learned from my own late nights spent out with the girls.
When you cleanse your face in the morning make sure to use cool temperature water. This will awaken and refresh your skin, and it will also reduce any swelling and inflammation. A good idea is to keep a spoon in your refrigerator. The metal holds the cold temperature of the fridge, and the curve of the back of the spoon fits nicely over the groove of your orbital bone. Place it under your eyes for about 3-5 minutes per eye and then remove it and place it back in the fridge. Wait another 5 minutes to see if you should repeat the process.
Next, caffeine is key, and not only for your morning coffee (if you must!), but as the main ingredient in your eye crème. Perricone MD Advanced Eye Area Therapy is fabulous!
I have found caffeine on the skin gives great instant results. Fluid gets trapped under the eyes causing puffiness and is usually most severe when you wake up in the morning. When applying your eye crème, gently tap around your eye area using your ring finger. This will help to disburse the fluid, and by using your ring finger it will help to ensure you’re not applying too much pressure. The caffeine acts as a stimulant and generates circulation under the eyes by helping to distribute any pooling of fluids caught in the tissues around your eyes.
Also, keep in mind to drink lots of water through out the day to keep you skin glowing and hydrated!
