The history of DECLEOR began 35 years ago, the fruit of passion and energy. At the time, it was known as CLEOR (the Golden Key -“Cle en Or” in French- that opens the Temple of Beauty). Its philosophy was “Be yourself, accept yourself” and each initiative was designed for the well-being of the body, skin and mind, an avant-garde, holistic approach for 1974.
The founders, Solange DESSIMOULIE, a passionate beautician and Caroline Colliard, an Aromatherapist-Physical Therapist, were surrounded by an enthusiastic team of experts, including a doctor and shiatsu professor. Their holistic approach to the body and shared expertise in energy points prompted them to create aromatic rituals performed in salons. They developed unprecedented treatments combined with unique techniques.
A forerunner in Aromatherapy, Caroline Colliard helped modernize the process, turning Aromatherapy into a science. Her comprehension of essential oils rapidly paved the way for a collection of unique 100% pure, 100% natural products free of artificial coloring or preservatives: the AROMESSENCE™ line. These ultra-concentrated serums are applied before a day care product to reinforce its effectiveness, and with them DECLEOR’s Aroma Duo concept was born.
The first successful products were rapidly created, Circulagel and Prolagène. These products were soon joined by innovative Face, Body, Sun and Men’s care products in the form of delicate textures, serums, balms and creams.
A decade passed and CLEOR became DECLEOR, which was a turning point for the brand. The 1990s were marked by the recognition of the benefits of Aromatherapy worldwide, reinforcing the AROMESSENCE™ as DECLEOR’s iconic products. DECLEOR’s in-salon treatments and retail products became the two synergistic pillars of the brand, each reinforcing each other and giving way to new developments.
In 2000, with the arrival of the Shiseido Group, DECLEOR was able to develop its research and development support and benefit from new commercial horizons, notably in Asia.
