Moisturizing the skin is of the utmost importance in keeping the skin healthy and the barrier of the skin strong and durable. Without hydration, the skin will look lackluster and thirsty. Skin that is properly hydrated will look healthy and supple.
Choose the appropriate moisturizer for your skin based on your skin type:
Oily to combination
Contrary to popular belief, oily and combination skin does need a moisturizer. Without a moisturizer, oily and combination skin will feel the need to produce excess oils to hydrate and the excess oils can cause the pores to clog, causing breakouts. Choose an oil-free moisturizer that is water-based to hydrate without causing build-up on the skin. Many moisturizers that are made for oily to combination skin types will contain purifying ingredients, in addition to hydrators, to provide anti-acne benefits and will typically leave a matte finish.
Normal to dry
Normal to dry skin types crave hydration and moisture, so a hydrator is of extreme importance. A moisturizer that is essential oil based and has ingredients like shea butter, sunflower seed oil, and avocado seed oil, is favorable for dry skin types. Many moisturizers made for normal to dry skin types contain pro vitamin B5 which help to bind moisture to the skin and hold one thousand times its weight in water.
