All about sunscreens
Sunscreen is one of the most important steps in your regimen. Sunscreen should be used every single day, year round. Many people save sunscreen use for the summer or vacation only, but the sun damages our skin daily, even if it’s hiding behind clouds. Protect your skin by layering at least a SPF15 as your last step of your regimen in the morning. If your skin is exposed to the sun throughout the day, make sure to re-apply every two hours. There are many sunscreen choices. Chemical sunscreens contain ingredients like octinoxate, octisalate, oxybenzone, octocrylene, and avobenzone which are absorbed by the skin and absorb the sun’s rays without allowing for them to penetrate into the bottom layers of the skin. Physical sunscreens contain zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which sit on the top layer of the skin and provide a physical barrier, while blocking the sun’s rays.
