When it comes to looking your best for the job, we get it. Not everyone's level of glam is going to be the same. Some out of preference, others, necessity.

If you're a fitness coach, you probably aren't going to be spending the time to apply a smokey-eye, only to have it melt off along with the sweat rolling down your face. Same as if you were, say, an astronaut. You don't have time for that! That doesn't mean that you need to abandon all beauty efforts, you just need to make some adjustments.

Customizing your beauty to your workplace

So how do you create a makeup look that makes you feel alive, but doesn't take a million years and a day to apply? That was exactly the concern of retired NASA astronaut, Rhea Seddon, when she would be on her missions in space. According to her website, she was worried about blending into the background in photos, so at the very least she wanted to look awake and fresh.

If there would be pictures taken of me from space, I didn’t want to fade into the background, so I requested some basic items...It was interesting to me that that I wasn’t the sole space traveler whose in-flight pictures showed a bit of lipstick and blush.

It's not a crime to want to look put together, is it? Absolutely not! A fresh look isn't meant to be a huge time commitment; you're looking to get out the door in a speedy fashion, not host your own glam camp. So if you need to scale down on the number of steps in your routine, what's the best way to do that? Hint: Have a five-minute go-to makeup look.

Five-Minute Face

The key to making good time is to have a go-to look you know is a winner. Every time. This look is comprised of a few beauty staples that provide you with the lift and life you need, without the excessive time commitment of application.

Foundation

Skip the full-coverage foundation and rely on a light, buildable foundation like Replenix Ultimatte Perfection SPF 50 Plus to give you a smooth, even complexion. If you need a little extra coverage, try a correcting CC cream like Osmosis Colour CC Cream to help conceal redness and other discoloration with a buildable formula!

Tip: Forget about the foundation brush, you have ten of them on your hands!

Brows

If you have time for nothing else, remember to fill in your brows! These two sisters that sit atop your eyes help frame your face, and if your brows are on fleek, your look will be too. Check out our Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil for a natural, smudge-proof look, or Decorté Eyebrow Pencil for an easy, long-lasting, featherlight application.

Lashes

Falsies are not a requirement for the workplace, there should be no such pressure here. Swipe on a coat or two of mascara to bring some life into your eyes and wake-up them up! Try Perricone MD No Mascara Mascara to lift and boost your lashes, while also nourishing and conditioning your lashes to give them a thicker appearance!

Tip: If you have an extra five seconds to spare, curl your lashes before applying mascara to open them up even more.

Cheeks

Never dash out the door without giving your face a pop of color. What's a perfectly smooth canvas if you look washed out and blend into the background? Sweep on Illamasqua Powder Blusher, a highly-pigmented formula that enhances your face shape.

Lips

Don't forget your lips! You'll be talking with them all day, and trust us, they're going to get dried out at one point. If color isn't a huge concern for you here go with a conditioning lip balm like Soap & Glory A Great Kisser Lip Balm that moisturizes your lips with mango butter and lingonberry oil to lock in hydration.

Looking your best isn't supposed to be a daunting chore. Let your natural self shine through and your look will be on point every day! Check out more beauty staples on our website that can save you time, and maybe even an arm and a leg.
