The Benefits of Using Synthetic Brushes

Unlike natural brushes, synthetic makeup brushes don’t have a cuticle, which makes them great to use with liquid or cream products, such as foundation and concealer, because they won’t trap makeup. Synthetic bristles tend to gravitate towards one another, making them perfect for precision application.

Tom Pecheux, the make-up master who has brought sparkle to the runways of Chanel and Victoria's Secret shows, as well as glamour to Tom Ford campaigns, told Into The Gloss backstage at a Derek Lam show that synthetic brushes are the only way to go with cream-based products.

'You need to use a synthetic brush!” he told the beauty destination. “If you use a brush with a cream-based product it must be synthetic, not a natural hair. If it’s a cream blush or cream eyeshadow or lipstick or foundation, you must use all synthetic brushes. First of all, because these products are greasy, so it’s much healthier to use a synthetic, and also because synthetic brushes are flat." Natural hair brushes are fluffy but with synthetic brushes, "it’s hard to do a good, fluffy brush."

"With cream anything, you need a synthetic!”

Synthetic brushes are also way easier to wash because they don't absorb as much product and the bristles aren’t coated with anything - this means they don’t shed as much as natural ones do. Man-made brushes are vegan-friendly and less likely to cause allergies than the animal hairs that come with natural brush territory.

These sets will only be available until stock lasts, so get shopping now!
