So it’s Skinstore’s first annual beauty awards where we give you the chance to vote for your favorite beauty brands. This is an opportunity for us to get a real insight into your beauty regime essentials and the brands and products you’re loving the most.
In my favorite category, Makeup, the nominees are:
Stila
The LA based company Stila was founded by a celebrity makeup artist and focuses on driving the beauty industry forward with pioneering beauty products such as their Stay All-day Liquid Lipsticks, Metallic Eye Shadows, Gorgeous Foundations, Primers and many more. The team at Stila are constantly updating and perfecting their range of high performance products. For a radiant complexion I use the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation, it blends so easily, whilst covering and hydrating the skin giving you a natural but flawless finish.
Dermablend
Dermablend has been the #1 brand in camouflage makeup for over 30 years, recognized as an expert because of the exceptionalperformance that the brand delivers in terms of coverage, wearability and skincare benefits.
We particularly love Dermablend because of the fact it literally covers anything, whether it be acne, rosacea, scars or redness and it is incredibly long lasting. One thing I can’t do makeup without is the Dermablend Smooth Liquid Foundation. When I have a break out I use this high coverage foundation to mask the redness and it’s like I don’t have any blemishes at all!

By Terry was founded in 1998 by Terry de Gunzburg, a true makeup expert. Terry strives to deliver a unique solution to all women through the vision of marrying skincare with beauty. That’s what we love about By Terry, that the makeup has added properties to benefit your skin, so wearing makeup can only be a positive thing with great advantages. I’m a little obsessed with the By Terry products, especially the By Terry Terribly Waterproof Mascara and the Eye Designer Palette in Smokey Nude- the colors are so gorgeous and pigmented.
Elizabeth Arden
Consider Elizabeth Arden as the first lady of beauty who believed that “ Every woman has the right to be beautiful”
Although this timeless brand has been delivering quality and excellence through innovativeskincare and makeup for over a century, there is no doubt that Elizabeth Arden remains as innovative today as it was the day it started. I particularly love the classic 8 Hour Cream, a multi-purpose skincare solution that works to heal wounds, moisturize nail beds and add a subtle sheen to the cheekbones while nourishing the skin - I’d certainly be taking this to a desert island with me.
Laura Geller
Following a successful career as a makeup artist, Laura Geller turned her knowledge and passion into her very own beauty brand. Her understanding of makeup is transferred into the products and she always volunteers tips and tricks when demonstrating how best to use them. Laura believes that beauty is for everyone and should be uncomplicated, mistake-proof and fun. Jane Iredale
The wonderful thing about Jane Iredale Makeup is that every product in the line is multi-functional. Jane's ultimate goal is to make products that look good, feel good and are kind to your skin. Similar to other well-known brands, Jane wanted products to be quick and easyto apply so that you can be the best version of you in a short amount of time. I like to start and finish my makeup wit the Jane Iredale Balance Antioxidant Hydration Spray, it regulates oil production and balances the skin's PH level- plus it smells amazing!
Bare Minerals
For me, Bare Minerals shook up the makeup industry. It was the first brand that I remember to introduce an entire makeup range based on mineralpowders. It was, and still is, intriguing because Bare Minerals create products like no other brand. The formulations are powered by the idea of pure products and are all packed full of nourishing, skin-loving minerals. One of my favorites is the Bareminerals Gen Nude Buttercream Lipgloss in shade ‘Fly ‘ which is a flattering nude shade, the lipgloss is slightly plumping whilst moisturizing and feels so lovely to wear.
