Why You Should Be Using Aloe Vera on Your Skin Everyday

If one of your hobbies is reading the backs of skincare labels for ingredient lists, you have probably noticed that Aloe Vera is in a lot of cleansers, moisturizers and even hair products.

If you’re wondering why that thick, green, goopy gel your mom used to make you use when you got a sunburn is in your fancy glass bottle of serum, you’ve come to the right place.

What is Aloe Vera?

Aloe Vera is a plant that was discovered in ancient Egypt where it was considered the “plant of immortality,” and has since been used as a healing treatment for burns and other severe topical injuries.

Why Use Aloe Vera on your Skin?

Aloe Vera is different because it not only contains all the vitamins and antioxidants your skin desires, but it can also be used as a spot treatment for acne. Usually, spot treatments are known to dry out your skin, but Aloe Vera is actually known for being extremely hydrating and can even be used raw as a moisturizer in the right form.

Other benefits of using Aloe Vera on your skin include anti-aging, boosting cell turnover, and of course, soothing and healing burns or redness. Basically, this stuff is the remedy for all skin concerns.

What is the Best Way to Use Aloe Vera on your Skin?

Although some opt for using aloe gel directly from the plant, we have a few products that make using the magic ingredient on your skin a lot easier and safer.

Here are some of our favorite ways to get our Aloe fix.

Aloe Vera for Cleansing

Cleansing with skin care products that contain aloe is one of the best ways to get your daily fix since cleansing is the first step of a typical skincare routine.

If you use a cleanser that contains Aloe, it’s skin-saving because of the fact that Aloe Vera has the ability to repair and recover skin from the day behind you. That means if you have sunburns, acne scars or even just build up from a tough day of pollution and city lights, Aloe Vera is your best friend.

For on the go:

Reveal a glowing, youthful complexion with the Glow Peel Pads from PIXI; advanced exfoliating treatment pads with 20% Glycolic and Rose Water, which help to achieve a healthy, radiant complexion over time. Enriched with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera, the pads also nourish and soothe.

For at home daily use:

A gentle, sulphate-free facial wash that will leave skin thoroughly cleansed, refreshed and soothed. Its principal actives are polyphenols and mucilages obtained from cold pressed Centifolia Rose petals. These fight free radicals and tone and soothe the skin. In addition Rose Otto essential oil purifies and balances, while polysaccharides from Aloe Vera calm and help to heal any minor irritations. Allows the skin to breathe freely.

Aloe Vera for Hydrating

Since the most well-known property of Aloe Vera is that it works extremely well for hydrating the skin, it makes sense to look for a moisturizer that includes Aloe Vera along with other ingredients that compliment it like Hyaluronic Acid and different Citrus Seed Extracts.

For at home daily use:

“For all skin types, especially normal to oily and acne prone skin. A unique ultra-light oil-free gel-lotion moisturizer that leaves no stickiness or oily residue. Helps to soothe with Azulene and Aloe Vera. Rich with antioxidant Vitamins A & E. Also recommended for normal to shiny skin which requires added moisture. Excellent relief for temporary dryness that accompanies acne treatment programs.”

For a night repair alternative:

“Drench your skin in the Aloe Vera Oil-Free Moisture Cream from Korean brand, COSRX. Utilising luxurious, natural ingredients, the lightweight, quick-absorbing moisturiser is infused with 80% Aloe Vera Leaf Juice to replenish and hydrate skin, whilst promoting a glowing, youthful-looking complexion. Skin is soft, soothed and rejuvenated.”

For long travels:

“The unique, anti-aging hydrogel eye masks have been specially formulated to treat delicate skin under the eyes, and are infused with intensely hydrating and restorative ingredients. Enriched with Gold Tea Ferment and essence extracted from Snail Mucin (which have both undergone a special gold fermentation process), the concentrated eye patches work to rehydrate and soften fragile skin, restoring rough, dry under eyes to leave them feeling smooth, radiant and soothed.”

Aloe Vera for Repairing

When faced with a bad breakout or dark spot, Aloe Vera may not be the first thing you turn to in order to fix it. However, it should be on your radar for seriously repairing your skin concerns. If Aloe can heal burns, frostbite and cold sores, why shouldn’t it be able to heal your blemish or sunken eyes?

For early mornings:

“Illuminate the delicate eye-area with this detoxifying gel that brightens dark circles and reduces puffiness. Retinyl Palmitate and Vitamin C strengthen the skin, increase elasticity and stimulate collagen production. Sodium Hyaluronate and Aloe Vera boost hydration levels.”

For an after weekend skin fix:

“Revitalize skin after daily exposure to environmental aggressors with this works Evening Detox Cleansing Water; a gentle cleanser that purifies and protects your complexion.

Infused with a cocktail of beneficial ingredients, including Sweet Almond Oil and Organic Aloe Vera, the micellar water effectively dissolves dirt, makeup and pollution, without over-drying or uncomfortable tightness. A dose of Liquorice Root soothes and calms to leave your complexion rejuvenated and regenerated around the clock.”
