We’ve all heard the claims that promise “Youth in a Bottle,” but we’ve been duped more than once. So what are the actual benefits of a moisturizer?

Moisturizers of course prevent dryness, which makes skin look dull and frankly, older. They also provide a protective barrier to shield your skin from environmental pollution that creates free radicals, the culprits that cause wrinkles and damage skin cells. If you use a serum, a moisturizer literally seals the deal. Putting that last layer of armor over your serum not only helps it penetrate better, but keeps any residue from evaporating. Serums tend to be the priciest products in any line, so we don’t want to waste our investment.

How are moisturizers different from hydrators? Hydrators address the level of water in your skin. They are water-based, as opposed to moisturizers, which typically have a measure of oil in them. They are great for dehydrated skin as they penetrate more deeply to really hold moisture in, keeping your skin cells plump. Every skin type struggles with dehydration, regardless of water intake.

People who travel frequently are often in need of extra hydration.Every skin type, even the oiliest, needs moisturizer. If you need help determining your best option, please call us and speak with our estheticians for a personalized recommendation.
