Step into 2018 ahead of the game. Here at Skinstore we are makeup obsessed and that bodes well, as it means we can bring you the predicted makeup trends for Spring 2018.

We all saw the catwalk shows. We saw Alexander Wang keep it casual with gorgeous glowing skin, Chanel combine turquoise eyes and red glossy lips, Versace stay sultry with bronze smokey eyes and Tom Ford exhibit metallic winged eyeliner and who better to take inspiration from than the fashion gurus themselves?

Let’s Talk Cat Eyes

Cat eyes, or otherwise know as winged liner have always been a personal favorite of mine. To me, as a makeup artist you can take an everyday makeup look into an evening look with a simple cat eye. They’re super enticing and will instantly draw people into your eyes.

There are so many versions of winged eyeliner, you can line the top and the bottom or you can just wing from the outer corners. The possibilities are endless but the products are the same.

I merged two awesome brands together to make the most amazing metallic eyeliner, just like the models from the Tom Ford catwalk. It is the Loose Concentrate Eyeshadow From Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in the shade ‘ Distortion’ and The Illamasqua sealing gel.

When you mix a little of the eyeshadow with some of the sealing gel it creates a waterproof liquid gel that's easy to apply and lasts all day. The micro fine pearly pigments in the OCC eyeshadow enhance the metallic finish. To achieve a super sharp wing, apply with the OCC angle brush.

 Radiant Skin Is In

Radiant skin is definitely an on-going trend and I can so see why! Why wouldn’t you want to look healthy and glowing? I have 3 favorite products for a quick-fix gleaming make over.

This look isn’t hugely about makeup, there’s more of a concentration on skin. Following your skin care regime, prep your skin with the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturizing Primer. This primer infuses skin with botanical boosters and vitamin A for a truly radiant glow.

Once I have applied the primer I like to enhance the look of radiant skin by covering any redness and dark puffy circles around the eyes. If you read my blogs you’ll know that concealer is my favorite product. I especially like to cover my dark circles with Amazing Cosmetics Hydrating Concealer. It offers a dewy natural looking coverage that effectively erases the appearance of dark circles.

Finally to get this no-makeup, makeup look use the cult classic Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream to add a hydrating glow. I use this on the eyelids, through the eyebrows, on the lips and over the cheek-bones. It's a miracle product!

Be Bold in 2018

If you’re feeling bold stepping into the New Year, why not show it off with your makeup. Chanel altered the general makeup rules, but of course it worked! The show casing of their Spring 2018 collection included bright colored eye shadow along side a bright red lip.

Why not try something bright and intense from the gorgeous By Terry Eye Designer Palette. It’s bold, beautiful and a personal favorite of mine. Take inspiration from Chanel and use one shade all over the lid, or get creative and layer several shades.

To mirror this makeup look, go vibrant on your lips too. For a really intense pop of color with a glossy finish try the Illamasqua Liquid Lip Lure in the shade Sorbet. Unlike other liquid lipsticks, this one is long wearing with the mirror-like shine of lip-gloss.

The usual makeup looks are still on trend so you can stick to smoky eyes, matte red lips and big brows. Another big makeup feature that is trending is embellishment, glitter, pearls and diamantes are everywhere!
