What's in a Name?
"The first step is admitting you have a problem," says OCC CEO and make-up artist David Klasfeld. "I did, and the result is a line obsessively crafted from the finest ingredients possible, to celebrate the driving compulsions of make-up fanatics everywhere."
Taking his OCD, which he was diagnosed with at 14, and turning it into something amazing, Klasfeld founded Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in New York City circa 2004. OCC is inspired by the tricks that make-up artists use when they don't have the right tools - OCC fills that gap. It lightly alludes to some of the wonderful traits Klasfeld has inhabited as a result of his disorder: precision, cleanliness and attention to detail.
This 100% vegan and cruelty-free brand has raised the bar, committing to creating products without animal-derived ingredients. Innovation through Color + Texture
As an artist first, Klasfeld wanted to create products that met the needs of artists who weren’t satisfied with the traditional options found on the market. In the early years he mixed up two vegan lip balms in his own kitchen: 'Tarred' and 'Feathered'. These were the first pieces that were Klasfeld's own creations, and the start of something great.
Today, OCC offers Lip Tar - which provides the finish of a lipstick but the convenience of a gloss. It exploded onto the cosmetics scene in 2009; the publishing world and the bloggosphere have been creating fanfare ever since.
