1. 

   Apply eye cream BEFORE your moisturizer

   It’s true. If you apply your facial moisturizer or night cream first, and then your eye cream on top, the first product is already sinking into your skin, acting as a barrier or any other similar textures. Loading an eye cream on top of this makes the penetration into the skin slower, reducing the benefits.

2. 

   Curl your lashes with waterproof mascara

   The truth behind this is that waterproof mascaras are actually drier than usual ones, and the wetter the mascara, the heavier it is. To keep that curl factor going strong, a lighter mascara is essential, especially when used with eyelash curlers.

3. 

   Make brown eyeliner your go-to

   If you haven’t discovered how handy brown eyeliner is, then you haven’t yet lived. Lining eyes at the bottom with a brown eyeliner as opposed to black actually makes eyes look wider, and if you have blue eyes, just watch them pop! It also doubles up as an eyebrow pencil, giving it multi-use.

4. 

   Get plumper lips with eye cream

   Eye creams are usually packed with skin plumping ingredients, such as hyluaronic acid, giving delicate skin that ‘cushioned’ look. If it’s good enough for the eyes, it’s good enough for the lips!

   Top make-up artists have been prepping clients lips with collagen boosting eye creams for decades. It’s a recommended practice for overnight treatments, or just before applying lipstick. 5. 

   Shade your parting for thicker looking hair

   Thicker hair can be created by illusion- it’s all about the trick of the eye! Lightly dust your parting with a coating of eyeshadow powder in a similar shade to your hair color. This especially works well with those who have light brown – dark brown hair. Choose a soft brown eyeshadow and a large fluffy eyeshadow brush and blend it in all the way down your visible parting.

6. 

   Dust a shimmery powder onto lashes for fullness

   A simple trick for thicker, fuller looking lashes is to apply your first coat of mascara, let it dry, and then apply a shimmery highlighter powder lightly over the lashes. Then, apply your second coating of mascara. The light particles plump up the eyelash hairs and create the perfect base for the second coat, to really ‘thicken’ the hairs.

7. 

   Make a customized lip color with loose pigment and salve

   Need a new lipstick color but don’t have it in your collection? If you have lots of loose powder eyeshadows lying around, just tip a small amount onto a flat mixing surface (or perhaps a spare lid) and scrape a little bit of a balm or salve into it. Using a lip brush, mix together until the texture and consistency is how you want it.

   A great way to experiment with all those loose pigment eyeshadow powders you may have! For a choice of salve, look at natural ones, such as Jurlique Rose Love Balm or the Pommade Divine Natural Remedy Balm.

8. 

   Use a white pencil to widen eyes

   Those lighter than light concealers or white eyebrow pencils really do work a treat when brightening and widening the look of your eyes. Using a white tipped pencil, such as this Jane Iredale version, smudge into the corners of the eyes and under the brow bone. Once blended in, eyes instantly look larger and more wide apart – a common feature amongst models.

9. 

   Fix broken lipsticks with a lighter and a fridge

   That feeling when your lipstick breaks off in the middle and you feel like you can’t use it again. Yes, we feel you. But there is a fix! Simply hold the broken lipstick against a small flame (a lighter or a candle) and let the lipstick melt a little so it all smudges into the original shape. Then, refrigerate over night. In the morning, your lipstick will all be mended – voila!

    Dissolve those pesky skin bumps

    If you think that harshly exfoliating those pesky red bumps that appear on your arms is a form of treatment, we hate to tell you that it isn’t.
